Text Box: Plein Air Oil Painting, New Classes Focus in September

 Text Box: At the first general meeting of the 2009-2010 season on Wednesday,     September 2, Cynthia Edmonds demonstrated her technique in Landscape and Figurative Oil Painting for the first workshop to be offered October 19, 20, 21 at the Artists’ Workshop. She says, “Painting en plein air is an exciting challenge trying to capture the ever changing play of light and shadow. Using    nature as inspiration does not mean simply duplicating the scene. Rather, my goal is to give the viewer the sense of actually being in the beautiful landscape.”      In addition, Artist Workshop teachers will be introduced, and members will have an  opportunity during the break to sign up for all classes and workshops, the details of which appear on the enclosed inserts. Please note that  two new classes in “Fun-damentals of Drawing,” with Betty Parker, and “Abstract Art 101,” with Sue Reynolds have been added to the schedule.  The business meeting begins at 7:00p.m. upstairs in the Workshop. As usual, social time starts at 6:30p.m., so come early to enjoy the refreshments provided by Ruby Jones and share what you did this summer.

Text Box:      As most everyone knows, Constanz Elder and Joan Zetka are no longer the gallery chairpersons. New people are Ella Lawless and Terri Parsons. We have some very large shoes to fill, and we will do our best to fill them. By the way, Connie and Joan, you have done an absolutely GREAT job. Thanks. As we work hard and try to make things run smoothly, if you have any complaints, feel free to call . . . Terri. If you have only praise for our work, then certainly call Ella. Any good suggestions, call both of us. We don’t accept bad suggestions. Let’s fill up those classes! Keep in mind                                                        Knowledge talks                                                        Wisdom listens.      The September Gallery exhibit runs from August 31—October 1, and  showcases our instructors for the year. Members may show ONE new work that does not have to be from a class or workshop. Enter work: Friday,     August 28, 9:00-11:00a.m. Pick up work: Friday, October 2, 9:00-11:00a.m. See enclosed insert for rest of the year’s schedule.
