Open First Saturday "Art Walk" 4-8 P.M. May 1, 2010 FOR YOUR INFORMATION: ABOUT GALLERY EXHIBITING The Gallery displays original artwork only. No copies, prints, or reproductions will be accepted for wall art. No work may be entered in our juried shows more than once. It is suggested that works not be shown more than once to keep our exhibits fresh and new. The maximum size of any work exhibited is 42 inches in height or width, including frame. However there are exceptions to this in monthly exhibits: 1. If Gallery Schedule indicates oversize works OK for that exhibit. 2. If Gallery Committee is contacted before an exhibit, a few oversize works may be entered. This is to insure that gallery wall space is balanced and all Members wishing to enter may do so Members may submit up to two (2) entries per show, unless otherwise noted. Properly framed and securely wired your artwork for hanging. No clips, saw tooth hangers or other devices. Gallery-wrapped canvases (canvases stapled on the back), are acceptable if all sides are painted or covered with wood strips. Artwork framed under glass is heavy and more easily damaged. Use Plexiglas only. Exceptions would be made for pastel, which may require glass. Although only one hosting is required for entry into Members Exhibit, it is expected that Members will host the Gallery each time they are exhibiting in any monthly show. GET TO KNOW YOUR PUBLIC!! A fee of $10 per entry applies to JURIED SHOWS ONLY. All others shows except the Members' Exhibit are free of charge. All monthly exhibits are open to all Members of the Artists' Workshop. Although the Artists' Workshop charges no commission on sales, it is customary to donate 15% of the sale price to the Workshop for our ongoing (and rapidly rising) expenses. Includes browse box and cards. Final decisions on the acceptability of any work will be made by the Gallery Committee. _________________________________________________________________________________________ MEMBERS' EXHIBIT Eligibility for the 2010 Annual Members' Show in February requires each participant to have shown and hosted the Gallery at least once during the previous year (Dec. 1, 2008 - Nov. 30, 2009) and paid dues on time. Other rules for the Members' Show may differ from those listed above and will be included in the Prospectus sent out beforehand. If you do not receive a Prospectus and believe that you are eligible to enter, please contact the Members' Exhibit Chair. ___________________________________________________________________________________________ SUGGESTIONS: Presentation of your art work is important. All artwork is enhance by suitable framing. In a group show, simple wood or metal frames no more that 2 inches wide are recommended. Mats should be white off-white. (If you enter the work in other venues, many do not allow colored mats at all. So if you go to the expense of matting and framing you should take this into account) Artwork should be in keeping with the theme of that month's show. This makes for a more unified and cohesive exhibit. We try to keep the themes as general as possible and in line with the preferences of the Members (along with a little challenge here and there). Also, Newspaper publicity is sent out based on the exhibit themes, so there is a public "expectation". Your Gallery Committee tries to give each work its own importance and to install the show so that it flows easily from one work to the next. Our Gallery has established a presence in the community and is a "must-see" for residents and visitors to New Smyrna Beach and surrounding areas.
